Shodack Residents: Amazon Distribution Center Missing Promised Sound Wall

In Shodack, NY an Amazon Distribution center is going up fast, but without their promised sound wall or berm. A Birchwood Association, Shodack's resident group, member Bob Jansing states, "There is work going on. The noise goes on very early in the morning, 6:30 or so until after dark...It looks like a prison. The architecture is unimaginative and it looks like a big industrial million square foot warehouse." Amazon Trucks Creating Traffic Headache in Milford Town Officials Say

While Amazon customers love the expedited shipping from the retail giant, Milford, MA residents say living with their Distribution center creates a traffic nightmare. The chairman of the Milford Board of Selectmen, Bill Buckley states, "The drivers will caravan through intersections; blowing through red lights, creating unsafe situations...The benefit to taxes and revenue is far less than the (negative) impact that they're having on our community and quality of life." Milford Slams Amazon, Requests Meeting

Milford, MA Board of Selectmen, Bill Buckley, criticized Amazon on television in December over clogged roads, drivers ignoring traffic laws, pulled over vans causing hazardous obstacles for passing drivers, and impacting the safety and quality of life for its residents. Buckley states, "That’s a corporate mentality that’s, frankly, what you use on small...towns, that don’t believe they have the wherewithal to either go through court systems, or to go through their planning processes to stop them...I’m not saying that I don’t want (Amazon) to be here, but I also want you to be courteous to the ... residents." Fire Tears Through Amazon Distribution Center in Redlands, California

Friday, June 5 a distribution center went up in flames engulfing the entire building in Redlands, California. The cause of the fire is under investigation, however the facility is new and had the latest fire protection. Read more about this crippling fire here.
